Talking About Paulette Jones
~ Dr. Dennis Merritt Jones, ~ Dr. Jim Lockard, ~ Dr. Maureen Hoyt, "When it comes to authenticity, living your purpose, finding your Truth and just plain shooting Spiritual Principle from the hip, Paulette Jones is a dynamo. I brought Paulette to my Center and she brought the entire congregation to their feet. Not just a standing ovation, but a visceral experience of HAVING to get up so that the energy in the room had somewhere to go. I cannot recommend her enough and I am looking forward to her next visit to NoHo." ~ Rev. James Mellon

The twenty-seven books of the New Testament, although written during the first century, were not recognized as the books that would eventually be declared by the proto-orthodox Christian authorities to be canonical for over 300 years after their creation. What eventually emerged as the New Testament was a creation of the desire of early church fathers to solidify a unifying doctrine that was rooted in their understandings of God, Christ, the universe and salvation as embodied in the teachings of Jesus and his apostles. The purpose of Scripture is to establish the "truth" of a set of beliefs. The debates about which books to include and which to exclude were long and hard. Many books that some Christians considered to be sacred were excluded from the canon by the orthodoxy of the church fathers. Books that were deemed "heretical" were eliminated during the lengthy process, even though they were considered by some to contain scriptural authorities. It was not until the year 367 AD that the twenty-seven books of the New Testament were proposed and it was not until 397 AD that the Third Synod of Carthage approved the final list and the Christian Bible, consisting of the Old Testament and the New Testament, came into being. The early, formative years of the Christian Church presents an amazing set of stories that will surprise and fascinate you! Come and hear the surprising story of how Christianity came to be. Please join us as we explore the early years of the Christian Church, the conflicts, the opposing views of God, Jesus and the relationship of the Divine to mankind. the Center for Spiritual Living, Simi Valley
